Temporary disruption to university systems and online services

out of order graphic

Like many organisations around the world, Murdoch University has been responding to a security vulnerability affecting platforms that use the PHP programming language.

To protect our systems and keep your data secure, we've taken precautionary measures that have resulted in some disruptions and changes to university services.

What services are affected?

MyAnswers

MyAnswers is currently unavailable while we work with the platform provider to address the security vulnerability and ensure your data remains secure.

We expect to restore access on Monday 26 October 2026, subject to the completion of the necessary security updates.

Student announcements and events

The Student Announcements and Events section on the myMurdoch Student Portal has also been affected.

You may notice that this section looks a little different, as announcements and events are now fully integrated into the myMurdoch website.

You can continue to view student announcements and event information through the myMurdoch Student Portal. However, some older announcements and event listings may no longer be available following these changes.

Other university systems

Some other university systems and online services may also be affected. We're continuing to assess the impact and will provide further updates as more information becomes available.

What do you need to do?

No action is required from you at this stage. We encourage you to check myMurdoch for updates and will keep you informed of any further changes to affected services.

We understand these disruptions may cause inconvenience and appreciate your patience while we work to restore services safely.

For more information about the wider security issue, you can read this ABC News article.
