Preventing gender-based violence requires sustained action across our University and broader community.
Murdoch's Gender-based Violence Prevention and Response Plan was developed through extensive consultation with students, staff and stakeholders and has been assessed as compliant with the requirements of the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence.
Gender-based Violence Prevention and Response Plan
The Prevention and Response Plan provides the roadmap for Murdoch’s work across the University and our broader community. It strengthens accountability for preventing and responding to gender-based violence, builds the knowledge and capability of our people, and supports safe and accessible pathways for people to seek help, disclose or report and receive appropriate care.
The Plan recognises that lasting change depends on collective effort, involving our students and staff, leaders and decision-makers, support and response services, and the communities and partners we engage with.
Policy and Procedure
Murdoch University’s Gender-based Violence Prevention and Response Policy and Gender-based Violence Response Procedure establish the University’s expectations and responsibilities and provide the framework for responding when gender-based violence is disclosed or reported.
Together, they support a consistent, trauma-informed and person-centred approach to support and response across the University community.
Gender Equity Action Plan (GEAP)
Gender inequality and unequal power relations are among the broader social and structural conditions that contribute to gender-based violence.
Murdoch University's Gender Equity Action Plan complements the Prevention and Response Plan by addressing the conditions that contribute to gender inequality and by promoting a culture of respect, inclusion and equity across the University.
Together, these plans support Murdoch's commitment to creating a safer, more equitable and more inclusive community.
Support and reporting
If you have experienced, witnessed or been informed of gender-based violence, support is available. You can access support whether or not you choose to make a disclosure or report.
