What is a Major?
A major is your primary area of focus within a degree. It determines the core subjects you'll study and the skills you'll master.

Major overview

Bridge business and technology with a Business Information Systems major

Organisations rely on technology to make smarter decisions, improve operations and stay competitive. The Business Information Systems major within our Bachelor of Information Technology prepares you to connect business strategy with digital solutions, helping organisations use data and systems to drive performance.

Throughout your business information systems studies, you’ll explore how organisations design, manage and improve information systems. You’ll build skills in data analysis, systems design and business processes while learning how technology supports decision making, efficiency and innovation.

Designed with input from industry advisers, our IT and business course reflects how businesses use technology in real-world environments. You’ll learn from experienced IT and business professionals while developing practical skills through hands-on, project-based units and gain real industry experience through internships or work placements.

You’ll have access to our IT Innovation Hub – a state-of-the-art, 24/7 environment where you can collaborate, test ideas and work with advanced technologies across data, networking and digital systems. You’ll also apply your skills using large-scale industry-standard infrastructure in our dedicated data centre.

You can combine this major with others in our flexible IT degree, such as Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems, Computer Science, Cyber Security and Forensics, Games Design and Development, Games Technology or Internetworking and Network Security, to expand your IT career prospects.
