WCGA Western Crop Genetics Alliance

The Western Crop Genetics Alliance is a joint venture between Murdoch University and the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development. There are three fantastic honours scholarships available for students who are studying in plant genetics, molecular genetics, molecular biology or genomics.

Eligibility

To apply for this scholarship you must: 

  • intend to enrol full-time in a relevant Bachelor of Science (honours) course in the College of Science, Health, Engineering and Education: 
    • Biology 
    • Crop/Pasture Science
    • Molecular Biology 
    • Biotechnology
  • have a record of high achievement in previous studies or professional work
  • be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

Required Documents

This scholarship requires you to provide the following documents: 

  • completed application form
  • a personal statement of up to two A4 pages maximum describing how the scholarship will help you achieve:
    • your personal goals 
    • academic success
    • planned career pathway.
  • your CV / resume
  • a written reference from a person qualified to comment on either your academic studies or current or past employment
  • your university transcript if you completed your undergraduate degree at a different university (not Murdoch).

Payment Method

Payments will be made directly into your nominated bank account in the following instalments:

  • $1,500 in week 7 or 8 of the semester you are awarded
  • $1,500 in week 7 or 8 of the consecutive second semester
  • $1,500 upon successful submission, and grading of your honours thesis

These payments are subject to acceptance and ongoing compliance with the terms and conditions.
