This scholarship aims to support young people of the Peel region to reduce the financial pressure and the living and study costs associated with attending university.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

  • be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • reside in the Peel region (postcodes 6121, 6122, 6123, 6124, 6125, 6126, 6180, 6181, 6207, 6208, 6209, 6210, 6211, 6213, 6214, 6215 or 6390); and
  • be enrolled full-time in your first or second year of a Bachelor of Science (BSc) or Bachelor of Nursing course 

Preference will be given to applicants under 21 years of age, reflecting the scholarship's focus on supporting young people, however, students experiencing financial and/or personal hardship are encouraged to apply.

How to Apply

This scholarship is currently accepting applications.

Prospective students who have applied to Murdoch University, or current students with a Murdoch University Student ID number - Please complete this application form and upload your supporting documentation to your application form.

Prospective students who have not yet applied to Murdoch University - please complete this application form and email your supporting documentation to scholarships@murdoch.edu.au. Please include your name and the scholarship you are applying for in the subject line of the email.

Required Documents

  1. Evidence of living in the Peel Region (e.g: Driver's licence, recent utillity bill with name listed)
  2. Personal statement (no more than 300 words), outlining the following:
    • Exceptional personal circumstances
    • Barriers relating to study and their impact
  3. Reference - a signed letter from an academic/ professional commenting on your community engagement and activity (please note that references from family will not be accepted)

File naming: Where possible, please name your files using your surname, first name initial and date.

For example: ApplicationSmithJ25Aug26; StatementSmithJ25Aug26; ReferenceSmithJ25Aug26

Payment Method

Payments will be made directly into the recipient's nominated bank account and the schedule will depend on the year of study in which the scholarship is awarded.

Students awarded in their first year will receive the following payments, capped at $9,000 over the duration of their studies:
  • $1,500 in the semester you are awarded
  • $1,500 in the consecutive second semester

Students awarded in their second year will receive the following payments, capped at $9,000 over the duration of their studies:

  • $2,250 in the semester you are awarded
  • $2,250 in the consecutive second semester

Scholarship payment processing commences from week 7 of each respective semester.

Note: While we endeavour to process and pay all scholarship student payments within week 7 and/or 8 of the respective semester, in some unforeseen circumstances your payment may arrive in your bank account later than week 8.

All payments are subject to your acceptance and ongoing compliance with the terms and conditions of the award.
