NTEU Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Scholarship
The NTEU Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Scholarship was established to support and encourage Undergraduate Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander students who demonstrate a commitment to community, across the various different stages of their degree.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this scholarship you must:
- be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student
- meet atleast one of the following criteria:
- be enrolled within the first year of an undergraduate degree at any Murdoch University campus;
- be enrolled in the final year of your degree or in an honours pogram at any Murdoch University campus;
- be living or studying in a regional or remote area while enrolled in a course at Murdoch University
- demonstrate a history of community engagement
This scholarship is available to both full-time and part-time students, however, scholarship payments for part-time students will be calculated on a pro-rata basis according to their enrolment load.
How to Apply
This scholarship is currently accepting applications.
Prospective students who have applied to Murdoch University, or current students with a Murdoch University Student ID number - Please complete this application form and upload your supporting documentation to your application form.
Prospective students who have not yet applied to Murdoch University - please complete this application form and email your supporting documentation to scholarships@murdoch.edu.au. Please include your name and the scholarship you are applying for in the subject line of the email.

Required Documents
- Reference - a signed letter from an academic/ professional commenting on your community engagement and activity (please note that references from family will not be accepted)
- Personal statement (no more than one A4 page) addressing:
- why you are interested in studying your chosen discipline
- how the scholarship will benefit and assist you to achieve your personal goals
- your academic success and planned career pathway
File naming: Where possible, please name your files using your surname, first name initial and date.
For example: ApplicationSmithJ25Aug26; StatementSmithJ25Aug26; ReferenceSmithJ25Aug26
Payment Method
Payments will be made directly into recipient's nominated bank account in the following instalments:
- $2,600 (pro-rata if enrolled part-time) each semester for up to 1 year.
Scholarship payment processing commences from week 7 of each respective semester.
Note: While we endeavour to process and pay all scholarship student payments within week 7 and/or 8 of the respective semester, in some unforeseen circumstances your payment may arrive in your bank account later than week 8.
All payments are subject to your acceptance and ongoing compliance with the terms and conditions of the award.
