Loneragan Family Scholarship

The Loneragan Family Scholarship was established to support Honours or Masters by Research students studying a major in Biological, Environmental or Marine Science, who are experiencing personal and/or financial hardship.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

  • be currently enrolled, or intend to enrol, in an Honours or Masters by Research course full-time at Murdoch University within the Biological, Environmental or Marine Science field
  • have a good academic record with a distinction average or above 
  • have demonstrated a committment to community service 
  • experiencing personal and/or financial hardship.

How to Apply

This scholarship is currently accepting applications.

Prospective students who have applied to Murdoch University, or current students with a Murdoch University Student ID number - Please complete this application form and upload your supporting documentation to your application form.

Prospective students who have not yet applied to Murdoch University - please complete this application form and email your supporting documentation to scholarships@murdoch.edu.au. Please include your name and the scholarship you are applying for in the subject line of the email.

Required Documents

  1. Personal statement (no more than 300 words) commenting on your community service examples, and your financial and/or personal hardship
  2. Evidence of financial hardship (e.g. payslips, tax notice of assessment or Centrelink income statement) 
  3. Evidence of personal hardship

File naming: Where possible, please name your files using your surname, first name initial and date.

For example: ApplicationSmithJ25Aug26; StatementSmithJ25Aug26; ReferenceSmithJ25Aug26

Payment Method

Payments will be made directly into recipient's nominated bank account in the following instalments:

  • $5,000 in the semester you are awarded
  • $5,000 in the consecutive second semester

Scholarship payment processing commences from week 7 of each respective semester.

Note: While we endeavour to process and pay all scholarship student payments within week 7 and/or 8 of the respective semester, in some unforeseen circumstances your payment may arrive in your bank account later than week 8.

All payments are subject to your acceptance and ongoing compliance with the terms and conditions of the award.
