An exceptional teacher in each classroom is one of the most important resources we can provide children and young people. It is important to continue to prepare and produce high quality teachers. Rick and Kathy’s commitment to supporting learners, whatever their starting base may be, has inspired the Kathy Digwood and Rick Cummings Future Teacher Scholarship which will assist first year Bachelor of Education students who are facing financial and/or personal hardship.

Eligibility

To apply for this scholarship you must:

  • be an Australian Citizen
  • be in financial and/or personal hardship
  • Must be commencing 1st year of a Bachelor of Education:
    • Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood and Primary)
    • Bachelor of Education (Primary)
    • Bachelor of Education (Primary, 1-10 Health and PE)
    • Bachelor of Education (Secondary)

Successful candidates must study full-time at Murdoch University and be commencing their first year of tertiary study.

How to Apply

This scholarship opens for applications from the first week of September each year.

You are welcome to express your interest in this scholarship by emailing us at scholarships@murdoch.edu.au noting your name and the scholarship you are interested in within the subject heading of the email.  Expressing your interest will enable us to send you a reminder to be one of the first to apply for this scholarship as soon as it opens.

 

Required Documents


  • Written character reference
  • Personal statement of no more than 500 words addressing:
    • the personal and/or financial hardship you are facing and the impact it is having on you
    • how the scholarship will assist you to be successful in your studies
 

Payment Method

Payments will be made directly into recipient's nominated bank account in the following instalments:

$2500 each semester for up to 1 year.

Scholarship payment processing commences from week 7 of each respective semester.

Note: While we endeavour to process and pay all scholarship student payments within week 7 and/or 8 of the respective semester, in some unforeseen circumstances your payment may arrive in your bank account later than week 8.

All payments are subject to your acceptance and ongoing compliance with the terms and conditions of the award.
