James TF Chong Memorial Scholarship

The James T F Chong Memorial Scholarship was established in 2007 and is available for award to a student beginning their first year in a Bachelor of Law at Murdoch University, who can demonstrate a measure of commitment and initiative in their academic and personal life and has achieved an ATAR of 90 or above.​

Eligibility

To apply for this scholarship you must:

  • be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • be a current year 12 school leaver with an ATAR of 90 or higher
  • be prepared to commence full-time studies for the first year of the Bachelor of Laws at Murdoch University
  • able to demonstrate a measure of commitment and initiative in your academic and/or personal life.

Required Documents

This scholarship requires you to provide the following documents:

  • completed application form
  • a personal statement describing:
    • your academic goals and planned career pathway
    • how this scholarship will assist you in achieving these goals
    • examples that demonstrate a measure of commitment and initiative in your academic and/or personal life
    • your desire and motivation for studying law and studying at Murdoch University.
  • at least one written reference from a person of the community (who is not related to you by any means) who is qualified to comment on your commitment and initiative in your academic and/or personal life.

If you would like to be considered on the grounds of financial need, please provide appropriate documentary evidence, such as a Centrelink statement or bank statement, which is dated within the last 30 days.

Payment Method

Payments will be made directly into your nominated bank account in the following instalments:

  • $2,500 in week 7 or 8 of the semester you are awarded
  • $2,500 in week 7 or 8 of the consecutive second semester

These payments are subject to acceptance and ongoing compliance with the terms and conditions.
