What is a Major?
A major is your primary area of focus within a degree. It determines the core subjects you'll study and the skills you'll master.

Major overview

Launch your HR career with an AHRI-accredited major in human resources management

Are you passionate about working with people and shaping positive workplaces?  A career in human resources (HR) offers the opportunity to support employees, strengthen organisational culture and help businesses succeed. The Human Resources Management (AHRI Accredited) major within our Bachelor of Business equips you with the practical and strategic skills needed to manage people effectively.

Accredited by the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI), our major aligns with professional HR standards and prepares you for recognised practice in the field. AHRI accreditation ensures your studies reflect current industry expectations, helping you graduate ready to contribute confidently to modern workplaces.

Throughout your human resources major you’ll explore how organisations attract and retain talent, manage employee performance and navigate workplace relations. You’ll develop the ability to support teams, resolve workplace challenges and align people strategies with wider business goals.

Your studies also include immersive learning experiences. We integrate virtual reality (VR) and avatars into undergraduate HR learning, allowing you to practise interviews, conflict resolution and workplace scenarios in a safe, simulated environment.

You can broaden your expertise by combining this major with another Bachelor of Business discipline such as Accounting, Banking, Business Law, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Finance, Hospitality and Tourism Management, International Business, Management or Marketing.  This broad perspective will help you link people strategy to wider organisational priorities.

Whether your goal is to develop talent, support organisational culture or guide businesses through change, our accredited major prepares you for a rewarding career in human resources.
