Pathways for international students

If you’re an international student and do not currently meet our minimum academic entry requirements, there are other pathways for you to gain entry into Murdoch University.


On-campus pathway

Murdoch Institute of Technology (MIT)

Murdoch Institute of Technology (MIT) helps students from around the world take their first steps towards undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Murdoch University.

Located on our Perth campus, Murdoch Institute of Technology (MIT) offers a Murdoch University Preparation Course (MUPC) and a Foundation Studies course as pathways into the first year of your undergraduate degree. MIT also offer two diplomas – Diploma of Business and Diploma of Information and Communications Technology. Completion of a diploma course can lead you straight into the second year of your chosen Murdoch degree.

The language centre at MIT can prepare you for academic English so you’re ready to succeed at Murdoch University. You can choose to study English before moving into a diploma or MUPC course, or you might just want to improve your English before starting your degree.

Anglican School Commission International (ASC International)

ASC International is part of the Anglican Schools Commission (ASC). ASC International is a non-government secondary schooling system offering the Western Australia Universities’ Foundation Program.

ASC schools are co-educational communities of excellence and educational centres of caring. Most offer a comprehensive Kindergarten to Year 12 education. They deliver excellence in education, stressing high achievement in traditional academic subjects, balanced by comprehensive co-curricular and vocational programs. These programs are underpinned by core Christian values and teaching in the Anglican tradition. Canning College

Canning College offers quality pathways to university for international students, including:

  • Year 10
  • Year 11
  • Year 12
  • Certificate IV in University Access Program
  • Diploma of Commerce.

Founded in 1982, Canning College is an independent government school and boasts an extraordinary success rate for students continuing their education at university.

In 2019, Canning College became the Western Australian State Government’s preferred provider for international students.

IIBT is a leading private education and training provider, both nationally and internationally. IIBT offers accredited higher education diplomas and vocational certificates, as well as English language intensive courses for international students (ELICOS).

Language Links

Language Links is an accredited and registered training organisation offering a range of English language intensive courses for students wishing to improve their English for work, entry into higher education / vocational education and training, or travel purposes.

Milner International College of English

Milner is a family-run business, based in Perth’s city centre. They provide a range of courses including:

  • general English
  • internationally recognised Cambridge and International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam preparation courses
  • a six-week Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) course.

Perth International College of English (PICE)

PICE is located only a few minutes’ walk from the main train and bus station in the Perth city centre. They offer accredited and intensive English intensive courses including:

  • general English
  • English for academic purposes
  • the suite of Cambridge courses
  • IELTS preparation.

Phoenix Academy

Phoenix Academy is a proudly Australian owned, family business as well as an Accredited and Registered Training Organisation (RTO – provider number 50030). They offer a range of nationally recognised award courses. This includes English Language Intensive Courses (ELICOS) for students wishing to improve their English for work or travel purposes, or as part of their study goals to gain entry into higher education / VET programs. Their courses include:

  • general English
  • Cambridge English examination courses
  • academic English (university preparation and high school preparation)
  • English for specific purposes (for example, English for business)
  • individual and group study tours (packaged tours).

Their School of Business conducts pre-university and university level courses from Certificate IV through to Diploma level in business and related disciplines. These courses are accredited through the Australian Qualifications Framework.

TAFE International WA

TAFE International WA offers nationally recognised courses for both domestic and international students and is government backed and guaranteed. You can choose from more than 200 courses to study at locations throughout metropolitan Perth and regional Western Australia. TAFE qualifications provide you with hands-on industry training to give you the skills employers need.

West Australian Institute of Further Studies (WAIFS)

WAIFS are a private training organisation that delivers training and education services to multiple industry sectors and are 100% locally owned and operated. They offer the perfect combination of private sector services standards, world-class resources and the academic guarantee of qualification approved by the Australian Government.

Their certificate and diploma courses include:

  • Accounting
  • Aged and Community Care
  • Business
  • Building and Construction (Management)
  • Project Management
  • Work, Health and Safety.

Located on a new custom-designed campus in the heart of Perth city, WAIFS includes relevant work-based training in a number of their courses so you learn while doing.
