Major in biomedicine and shape the future of healthcare

Biomedicine focuses on understanding human biology and disease, exploring how the body functions and what happens when normal processes are disrupted. The Biomedicine major within our Bachelor of Biomedical Science gives you the knowledge and practical skills to investigate health and disease at molecular, cellular and system levels.

Throughout your biomedicine studies, you’ll explore areas such as human biology, pathology, physiology and disease mechanisms. You’ll develop a strong scientific foundation while learning how medical research drives advances in diagnosis, treatment and prevention.

Guided by leading academics, you’ll build analytical and laboratory skills while engaging with leading-edge research in biomedical science. You’ll gain insight into how discoveries in biomedicine contribute to improved health outcomes and inform clinical and research practice.

You’ll study at the Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct, a hub for clinical practice and research, with access to modern laboratories and facilities that reflect real-world environments. These spaces support hands-on learning and help you build practical skills using industry-standard techniques.

You can combine Biomedicine with another major in our flexible biomedical science degree, choosing from Biochemistry and Nutrition, Clinical Laboratory Science, Genetics and Biotechnology, Microbiology and Immunology or Pharmacology and Toxicology, to expand your knowledge and broaden your health science career opportunities.
