What is a Major?
A major is your primary area of focus within a degree. It determines the core subjects you'll study and the skills you'll master.

Major overview

Study environmental science in on-campus wetlands and bushland

Step beyond the classroom and into a living ecosystem. Major in environmental science and management as part of our Bachelor of Science (Environmental and Conservation Sciences) and you’ll learn in our on-campus conservation wetlands and banksia woodland, using these environments as a practical laboratory to investigate real environmental challenges.

Across your hands-on environmental management studies, you’ll explore how natural systems function and how environmental management strategies can be used to protect and restore them. You’ll develop skills in environmental monitoring, data analysis and sustainable resource management, building a strong understanding of how science informs decision-making.

A key part of your studies is a research project, where you’ll apply scientific methods to investigate real-world environmental issues and develop evidence-based solutions. You’ll also learn from environmental practitioners and internationally recognised experts, including contributors to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), bringing global perspectives into your learning.

You can tailor your science degree by combining this major with others such as Conservation and Wildlife Biology or Marine Biology, expanding your expertise across environmental systems and conservation science, for broader environmental science career options.
