Inspire others to think for themselves
As a teacher, you have the opportunity to influence a whole generation of thinkers. Will you help to create new leaders and decision makers, or help a student forge their own path, whatever that may be? Or perhaps you'll channel your passion for sport, drama, language or science and teach others to do the same?
Whether you're teaching children or adults, you'll be there for the 'aha' moments in the classroom. These moments are the evidence that you've ignited the spark for learning, and that you're making a real difference in your students' lives and communities.

Why study teaching at Murdoch?
Hands-on learning so you graduate classroom-ready
We're the first university in Australia to use mixed-reality learning environments, featuring virtual reality and human actors, to simulate real-life teaching situations, so you're ready to tackle your practical placements. Not only can you gain up to 585 hours of teaching experience while you study, but you'll also start teaching before you graduate. Plus, all our courses are recognised by the Teacher Registration Board of WA.
Grow your job options with flexible courses
Did you know that we offer the only course in WA that qualifies you to teach from birth to year six? And, we are one of only a few universities in Australia to teach the International Baccalaureate Certificate in Teaching and Learning. It doesn't stop there. We can also qualify you to teach in the Catholic education system. And when you're done, you'll graduate with a portfolio of work to share with prospective employers. We also offer flexible study options so you can study online or on campus.
Make an impact with an Australian or overseas placement
At Murdoch, you can complete practical placements in metropolitan, regional, rural and remote schools, as well as schools in Singapore, Thailand and China. If you choose to go rural, you'll get to participate in a 10-week rural placement (with a government stipend) in WA so that you gain a breadth of experience and get the opportunity to work in diverse environments.
