What is a Major?
A major is your primary area of focus within a degree. It determines the core subjects you'll study and the skills you'll master.

Major overview

Bring stories to life with a major in journalism and content production

Curious about how journalists and content creators play a vital role in informing communities, shaping public debate and telling the stories that matter? The Journalism and Content Production major within our Bachelor of Communication helps you develop the reporting, storytelling and media production skills needed to create compelling content across today’s evolving media landscape.

Our industry-focused journalism major explores how stories are researched, verified and communicated across platforms including digital media, broadcast, podcasts and online publications. You’ll discover how journalists investigate issues, interview sources and transform complex information into clear, engaging stories for different audiences. Study journalism and content production and learn how to create content with integrity, grounding your reporting in verified facts, ethical journalism practices and responsible storytelling.

You’ll also gain hands-on experience producing content using industry-standard tools and techniques in our state-of-the-art media labs. Working in newsroom-style environments, you’ll develop practical skills in reporting, writing, editing and multimedia storytelling, with the opportunity to publish your work live on a news website in your final year and build a professional portfolio before you graduate.

You can also tailor our flexible Bachelor of Communication degree to your interests by combining this major with other areas of study, pairing it with Digital Communication, Communication and Media Studies or Strategic Communication to build the storytelling, research and communication skills valued across a wide range of communications careers.
