How you can benefit
As an elite athlete we understand you need extra support to help you balance training, competition and study commitments. Support is provided to help you meet your individual needs and goals.
Your liaison officer is always there to make sure you know what options are available, how to access them and act on your behalf.
Your Special Programs liaison officer can negotiate outcomes tailored to suit your circumstances. Where class attendance is considered part of the assessment and it clashes with sport-related travel commitments, you may be granted an exemption. Alternatively, your unit coordinator may consider opportunities for making up missed classes or assess you under the same criteria as an external student.
If you need help to tailor your course around your commitments your Special Programs liaison officer can help you take advantage of flexible learning options such as changing study mode, online catch-up lecture recordings and other online resources.
You also have the opportunity to represent the University as an athlete, coach or manager at state and national competitions. Murdoch Sports provides reimbursement for your gym membership if you represent Murdoch at Tertiary Sports WA or the Australian University Games.
Alternative arrangements for exams
If your commitments require you to travel during the exam period, you can arrange to sit your exams at an alternative location. The normal fee for making alternative exam arrangements will be waived.
Deferred assessment and assignment extensions
You may have difficulties meeting assignment deadlines or sitting an exam at the scheduled time. Under these circumstances you may be eligible to defer an exam or assignment due date.
To apply you need to submit supporting documentation from your sporting body.
Credit for previous studies
You may relocate states, or even countries, prior to the completion of your studies. You may have also completed units from other institutions. In recognition Murdoch may waive the completion requirements you need to receive a Murdoch degree or transfer credits to another institution.
To apply you need to submit supporting documentation from your sporting body.
