Master of Decarbonisation, Energy and Sustainability Management

Our Master of Decarbonisation, Energy and Sustainability Management is an accelerated, one-year program that prepares you to lead that change, combining advanced knowledge of decarbonisation, energy and sustainability with applied skills in carbon accounting, life cycle assessment, systems modelling, and policy analysis.

You'll build core capabilities in carbon management, life cycle assessment, just transition, and sustainability reporting, then specialise by combining two majors chosen from Strategic Decarbonisation, Renewable and Sustainable Energy, Sustainable Cities and Infrastructure, and Corporate Sustainability Management. Pairing two majors lets you tailor the degree to your background and career goals, graduating with a distinctive, complementary skill set.

Throughout the course, you'll apply your learning to real-world challenges, developing the practical, in-demand skills that employers across the low-carbon economy are looking for.

We offer this Master of Decarbonisation, Energy and Sustainability Management as an accelerated one-year program for domestic students. We also offer a Master of Decarbonisation, Energy and Sustainability Management (Advanced), a two-year program with an additional capstone in professional practice or research, designed primarily for international students.

• Draw on climate science, sustainability principles, and decarbonisation frameworks to tackle complex energy-transition challenges across different industries and regions.
• Analyse policies, regulations, and financial instruments, and assess how effectively they drive low-carbon, just energy transitions in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
• Design practical, implementable solutions to cut emissions in industrial, infrastructure, and urban systems, using tools such as carbon accounting, life cycle assessment, and systems modelling.
• Build evidence-based strategies and long-term roadmaps for managing energy and carbon that balance technical, economic, social, and environmental priorities.
• Evaluate and communicate the social, ethical, and governance sides of sustainability, including stakeholder engagement and a fair transition, through ESG analysis and real-world case studies.
• Lead and manage complex sustainability and decarbonisation projects across business, government, and community settings, from planning and implementation through to monitoring and reporting.
• Apply digital tools, data analysis, and modelling, including business analytics and performance dashboards, to inform strategic decisions and track environmental performance.
• Work effectively in multidisciplinary, intercultural teams, demonstrating the professional judgement, adaptability, and leadership that strong project outcomes depend on.
