Reflections from 2017 students

"My teaching practicum at Beanstalk International Bilingual School, Kunming turned out to be one of the best experiences of my life. Kunming took me by surprise with its stunning flowers, gardens, lakes, and skyscraper buildings. The teaching staff at the school went over and above to make us all feel welcome. They even organised and joined us for sightseeing like The Stone Forest and an over-night stay at Fuxian Lake. It was a surreal experience implementing play-based learning in early childhood, while at the same time having a teacher translating in Chinese. I hope to one day go back and teach at this fantastic school or in another International Bilingual school. I will forever be grateful to the New Colombo Plan and Murdoch University for granting me this incredible opportunity! " (Jayde Greig, Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood & Primary)

"My two weeks placement in Beanstalk international bilingual school (BIBS) was challenging and exciting. But this was the whole point of getting out of my comfort zone. The school was welcoming and accommodated us into their busy teaching schedule. The staff were so supportive and students were really respectful. I was able to learn about the culture, education and their ways of life. The journey was nice and smooth and I believe, it was an eye opening for me as a future teacher. I highly recommend this internship- great experience." (Sarah Guot, Bachelor of Education in Primary)

"I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to spend 2 weeks teaching at Beanstalk International Bilingual School (BIBS) in China! This unique experience provided me with a new perspective on teaching as I could see how the school integrated both eastern and western teaching philosophies. This opportunity allowed me to develop my skills and knowledge, which I can now apply to my studies and future practicums. I now have a more meaningful and in-depth understanding of China, its people and its history." (Kaitlyn Bennett, Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood & Primary)
