Bachelor (BA(Hons))

Communication and Media Studies Honours (BA(Hons))

This major will teach you about the rapidly changing media industry and you’ll gain knowledge into the technical innovations that have shaped these changes. You’ll explore the culture and policies of the global industry, work with our award-winning lecturers and have the chance to gain a real life insight into the power of the media.

Building your skills of analysis and understanding of production, you’ll learn how media is used and its impact on culture. You’ll also explore technological developments that have affected the creative media industry, gain practical training in writing and professional communication and have the opportunity to combine your studies with majors such as Photography, Journalism, Web Communication, English and Creative Writing or Public Relations. Just think, you could be writing strategic communications or explaining new technologies to companies to help them communicate with the public.

The aim of the Honours year is to extend your grasp of the principles and practice of the subject, to develop ability for independent research, and to facilitate your entry into industry employment. An Honours qualification is normally required for admission to higher research degree study.
