Whose Life Is This Anyway?

Whose Life is this anyway ft

Three Murdoch alumni explore overthinking, self-doubt, personal responsibility and the fear of failure. Through honest conversation, they share how to take greater ownership of your life and move forward with confidence.

Overview

Hear from three Murdoch alumni on overthinking, fear of inadequacy and how to embrace failure.

We all know that little voice that tells us we are not capable or not quite enough. It can appear when we consider a new role, a new relationship or an entirely new direction.

To celebrate the release of new books by Murdoch alumni TJ Callas and Dr Marny Lishman, we are bringing them together with fellow alumnus and author Aden Date for an honest conversation about self-doubt, personal responsibility and becoming more comfortable with failure.

This panel connects three different perspectives and together they will explore how we can quieten the fear of inadequacy, take greater ownership of our lives and stop allowing the possibility of failure to make our decisions for us.

Dr Marny Lishman is a Doctor of Psychology, mindset coach, media commentator and author of Only You: The Unexpected Gift of Being Alone. Her insights have featured on Channel 7’s The Morning Show, 9 News, ABC Radio and triple j, as well as in The Sydney Morning Herald and The Australian. Marny will discuss how building a stronger relationship with yourself can change the way you approach uncertainty and feelings of inadequacy.

TJ Callas is an accountability strategist and author of DO. DECIDE. ACCOUNT. TJ will explore the role of action, discipline and personal accountability in moving from intention to meaningful change.

Aden Date is a performing artist, creative-thinking facilitator, founder of Only the Human and author of Funny Business: Lessons on Creativity from Improvised Theatre. He has featured in ABC News and on ABC Radio Perth and ABC Radio’s Nightlife, discussing adult play, creativity and the benefits of improvisation. Aden will explore giving up the illusion of controlling life.
