Graduate Diploma in Australian Migration Law and Practice
Launch a career in Australian migration law—one of the country’s most in-demand legal fields. Build practical skills and legal knowledge to help individuals, families, and businesses navigate the migration system, while preparing for registration as a migration agent and real-world practice.
With over 10 years of experience teaching migration law, Murdoch University offers the Graduate Diploma in Australian Migration Law and Practice, recognised by the Office of Migration Agents Registration Authority (OMARA) as satisfying the required entry-level course for registration as a migration agent (registration also requires the Capstone exam and other criteria).
You don't need a law degree to get started — just the drive to make a difference. This course is open to all backgrounds, and equally valuable for legal practitioners ready to expand their practice. Led by leading academics and experienced practitioners, this course is practical, hands-on, and designed to prepare you for success in this challenging field.
Where it will take you
Upon completing the Graduate Diploma and passing the OMARA Capstone Assessment, graduates are eligible to register as an Australian migration agent.
Career pathways include:
Migration agencies and specialist law firms
State and federal government departments
Non-government organisations (NGOs)
Private sector firms providing corporate immigration service
Professional accreditation
Successful completion of the Graduate Diploma in Australian Migration Law and Practice provides students with part of the requisite knowledge requirements for registration as a migration agent with the Department of Home Affairs / Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority (OMARA).
