Murdoch Veterinary Hospital: Pet owners

Murdoch Pet Emergency Centre staff

Murdoch Pet Emergency Centre (MPEC) has a team of over 50 staff consisting of two board-certified specialists in emergency and critical care medicine, emergency and critical care residents, intensive care veterinarians, consulting veterinarians and a team of registered veterinary nurses supporting either ICU, consulting or triage.

At busy times, such as weekends and public holidays, we may double or even triple our staffing levels to ensure that your pet’s care is not compromised by overwhelming demand for our services.

Support is provided by various sections within the hospital including anaesthesia, medicine, surgery, ophthalmology and oncology by specialist academic veterinarians, residents and other hospital clinicians and nurses.

While the MPEC veterinarian on duty will ultimately be the one who is assessing, treating and making decisions about your pet’s condition, veterinary students are also a major part of (and asset to) Murdoch University Veterinary Hospital.

Veterinary students are required to work in each department on a rotational basis throughout their final year of veterinary studies. Students are monitored at all times and may be involved in the supervised treatment of your pet under direction from the veterinarian in charge.
