Murdoch Pet Emergency Centre facilities

We have the technology to make a difference

The Murdoch Pet Emergency Centre (MPEC) is a purpose-built facility, fully equipped to care for 27 intensive care patients at a time.

Some of our equipment includes;

  • an after hours mini laboratory including analysers for electrolytes, blood gas, haematology and biochemistry
  • a laptop ultrasound machine (MyLab5)
  • a ventilator (life-support) for long term invasive support
  • oxygen and suction within easy reach of all patients

Advanced continuous monitoring includes pulse oximetry, capnography, electrocardiogram, blood pressure (invasive and non-invasive) and the use of telemetry.

The ICU is equipped with a critical care ventilator and mobile anaesthetic machines, as well as internally connected oxygen and suction equipment accessible to all cages at quick reach.

The Murdoch Pet Emergency Centre also utilises an oxygen cage which can house 2 patients at once with ducted oxygen and humidifier option plus temperature control.

Stored blood and plasma products are also available to MPEC patients.
