Dairy cattle services

Murdoch University Veterinary Hospital offers a herd health and management service for dairy producers.

Properties are visited monthly or fortnightly depending on the size of the enterprise and the animal problems identified. A major focus of the service is analysing performance as well as monitoring and controlling.

  • Feed quality analysis and interpretation of feed test results,
  • Pregnancy diagnosis,
  • Herd replacement and calf rearing,
  • Mastitis control and monitoring using herd test data,
  • Pre-mating bull breeding soundness evaluations which includes the serving capacity test,
  • Foot trimming of bulls and cows,
  • Analysis of reproductive performance,
  • Projected milk production,
  • Individual animal medical or surgical treatment (by appointment or referral).
