Murdoch Pet Emergency Centre fees
Setting up expectations:
If you intend to refer a client to MPEC, it helps if you can give them an idea of the fees that they are likely to incur; occasionally even the consultation fee is too much for a client.
All treatment is given only with the owner’s written consent and with consideration of any financial constraints.
Please be aware that full payment is required on discharge and clients must maintain a deposit of 50% of the upper estimation throughout the pet’s time in hospital.
Credit is not available and owners will not be given an account.
Estimations and Treatment Options:
Because the condition of critically ill patients changes from hour to hour, usually only the first 12-24 hours of care is estimated initially; this is based on a differential diagnosis.
Once the patient has been stabilised and a diagnosis and prognosis are available, your client will be given further estimations and the option to proceed with the recommended optimal treatment, conservative treatment, referral back to your care or euthanasia.
If a pet is admitted to the ICU, our nursing staff will update the account regularly and inform your client of the account balance each afternoon.
A 20% surcharge applies to some fees during public holidays.
Figures are estimates and intended as a guide only.
During consultation the clinician will give the owner a more accurate approximation of costs dependant on the illness and condition of their pet once examined.
Variables include patient's response to treatment plus whether further diagnostics/surgery are required.
