Recognition of Excellence in Teaching
Murdoch University is committed to developing its students to be their best, through quality teaching in a supportive and engaging learning environment. Teaching staff are integral to the achievement of students, and in a transnational context this means the staff employed by partners for delivery of Murdoch courses.
Excellence in teaching is essential for student engagement and success. The University currently gives recognition to Murdoch staff for excellence in their teaching through the Vice Chancellor’s Awards for Teaching Excellence.
In a transnational context, the majority of Murdoch’s programs are coordinated from the South Street campus and delivered by qualified teaching professionals based at the partnership location. In order to acknowledge the first-rate work of colleagues who represent Murdoch University in the transnational sphere, the University has introduced a process for the recognition of excellence in teaching by our Affiliate Staff.
Affiliate Staff may be recognised on the basis of one or more of the following criteria:
a. Exceptional performance in unit delivery over a period of time;
b. Significant innovation or demonstrated improvements in delivery practices;
c. Outstanding contribution to delivery of Murdoch transnational courses, to the benefit of the University or on behalf of the University;
d. Significant contribution to University activities.
Murdoch staff, partner staff or students are able to nominate Affiliate Staff involved in teaching of Murdoch units at partner locations for recognition of teaching excellence.
Nominations will be considered by the appropriate School Dean and Academic Chair and a final list of recipients will be confirmed by the Vice President, Transnational in August each year.
Affiliate staff will be recognised by the University for their contribution to transnational delivery of Murdoch courses annually at a University function, at which certificates of recognition will be presented to recipients. Certificates will be posted to recipients unable to attend the event.
