Knowledge in the Social Sciences and Humanities creates the understanding of lives lived, of how society operates and how we dramatise that life. We teach and we research - and we do both very well.

All continuing staff in SSH have PhD qualifications and we have among the highest research output in the University with awards, grants, publications and performances coming at you from all directions.

Our Asia Research Centre is a world renowned centre for knowledge on Asia - politics, security, society, history and tourism. Our Centre for Social and Community Research lives here, in WA, and researches our own lives while also linking international philosophers and those concerned with life in and after prison.

But, students also tell us that we teach well. We'll accept the compliments but we try to get even better at it. We do this with prize winning novelists and a professional performance space, Nexus Theatre.
