Early Childhood and Primary Teaching (BEd)

Bachelor of Education

Teach from Birth to Year 6. This will give you flexibility and variety within your role as a teacher, enabling you to work with students throughout different stages of their development.

Throughout this degree you will study all areas of the Primary curriculum including English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, Health and Physical Education, and the Arts, as well as assessment and learning processes. You will also focus on early childhood teaching and learning and be involved in long day care settings, the early years (K-3) and middle school (4-6) classrooms.

Graduate Diploma

If you're a qualified primary school teacher, this 1 year course allows you to specialise in early childhood education for children from Birth to 5 years. You'll get an in-depth understanding of early childhood learning and develop new skills to apply to your career in education. You will study theories of play and development, learning and pedagogy for young children and research the practical implications of implementing an integrated early childhood curriculum. NOTE: If you're not a qualified teacher but you've had at least two years of relevant and full-time teaching experience recently, you may be able to still apply. This course meets the Australian Childhood Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) accreditation requirements.
