Welcome to the School of Education
The School of Education is a foundation school of Murdoch University, which has proud traditions of engagement with schools and service to the teaching profession. We are committed to social justice and inclusivity, building partnerships locally and globally, and graduating effective practitioners and life long learners.
We provide high quality courses in pre-service teacher education at Early Childhood, Primary, Secondary and Tertiary and Adult Education levels. For our Bachelor of Education, Graduate Diploma Secondary and Master of Teaching Primary programs, we offer a wide range of nationally recognised internship programs that provide for a full year immersion experience in schools. We are also the only university in Australia to offer our students the opportunity to practice their teaching skills with TeachLive technology , a simulated classroom using real time avatars as students.
Murdoch University and the School of Education offer a wide variety of scholarships to students, including scholarships that reward high achievers, scholarships for TAFEWA applicants, and also scholarships to assist students to overcome personal or financial barriers that they may be facing in their studies. For more information about scholarships click here.
Our staff work with student teachers and experienced educators to foster innovation, creativity and leadership in education. Our staff also conduct world-class research through several recent Commonwealth supported large projects. Research interests of staff have been listed on the staff page so that prospective higher degree research students can align themselves with existing projects and staff expertise.
We also offer an expanding suite of postgraduate programs, including the Graduate Diploma Secondary Education (1 year duration) and the Master of Teaching Primary (1.5 year duration), as well as short courses for professional development. Our Master of Education (Coursework) is recognised by the International Baccalaureate Organisation, and is offered at both Perth and Dubai Murdoch locations.
