Welcome to the School of Education

Professor Barry DownWelcome to the School of Education website. The School of Education is a foundation school of Murdoch University, which has proud traditions of engagement with schools and service to the teaching profession.

Our principal purpose is to provide high quality courses in pre-service teacher education at secondary, primary and early childhood levels. The staff who teach these programs are highly committed and innovative professionals who are informed by the latest international research trends and practices.

School academics conduct world-class research through several recent Commonwealth supported large projects. Research interests of staff have been listed on the staff page so that prospective higher degree research students can align themselves with existing projects and staff expertise.

The Education work we undertake extends beyond research and teaching pre-service teachers. Accreditation authorities require teachers to engage in continuing education. Accordingly, the School of Education offers graduate and postgraduate programs for teachers as well as educators employed in other sectors.

Academic Chairs and Student Advisors are available to assist Education students at Murdoch when you need help - contact details are listed on staff page.

On behalf of the staff of the School of Education, I wish all students success in your academic work. I also encourage you to participate in School and University activities to experience and contribute to our unique culture.
