News Room

The News Room is the production hub for our converged-media online news service. Students work one day a week in the newsroom preparing news under the direction of a news editor employed direct from the industry.

Students cover news of the day by producing text, audio or video, depending on the nature of the story. It’s uploaded that day.

Once a week a one-page, news-sheet, with the highlights of the week’s stories, is also printed and distributed in Fremantle.

Equipment you'll use on a daily basis include;

  • Recording gear for newsroom tasks, such as recording phone interviews and preparing video and audio news packages.
  • Specialised software to write and produce bulletins with associated audio, video grabs or still photos,
  • Satellite television, the web and news wires to keep you in touch with world events.
