Research in Australia’s spectacular landscapes…with fascinating people.

Nature is increasingly providing opportunities for tourism. Australia's expansive landscapes and wildlife attract visitors from around the world. The Nature Based Tourism Research Group at Murdoch University, Western Australia aims to understand how the sustainability of these environments can be conserved while providing visitors with memorable experiences.

Our research is wide and varied and includes understanding how to protect ecosystems and wildlife from impacts, developing sustainability indicators and performance evaluation, and surveys of visitors’ expectations, experiences and satisfaction.
