Animal & Plant studies, Environment & Bioinformatics
Murdoch is uniquely placed to find solutions to challenges in veterinary science, agriculture and the environment.
With decades of experience in tackling the world's environmental issues, our researchers are making a real difference through their interdisciplinary approach to solving real-world problems.
The University's animal research capabilities are well recognised at state, national and international levels. Researchers in this area focus on four core activities – production animal research, companion animal research, animal biosecurity and health, and wildlife biology and systems.
And our researchers are tackling the global issue of food security by working to improve crop varieties. Operating on a global level in areas such as plant biology, pathology and biosecurity, as well as bioinformatics and fungal diseases, they are delivering real world improvements.

Resource technologies
Liberating the full value of Australian resources more efficiently, more sustainably and with a lower environmental impact is a challenge Murdoch researchers are helping industry to meet.
Strong partnerships with industry and other stakeholders across the sector enhance our work in areas including minerals, hydrocarbons, biomass (including waste), wind, wave and solar energy and, of course, our most precious resource - water.
