Sign up for your classes (lectures, tutorials, labs and workshops)

Important dates

  • Unit activities open towards the end of January for Semester 1 and towards the end of May for Semester 2. The opening dates will be advised close to the start of Semester.
  • Handbook dates and deadlines

Before you sign up for classes

This system works on a first-in-first-served basis, so don’t mess about! Try to sign up to your classes as soon as possible, though note the different opening times for various units.

How to sign up for classes

Within MyInfo, click on class sign up:

then click on add or change classes:

On the next page, for each unit and class type listed, select the time that is most convenient for you, then make your selections for the different classes.

Some tips

It’s a good idea to start with all your lectures first and save your choices, then choose the other associated classes for each unit, workshops, labs etc, saving as you go.

Be sure you also note the start week for each class as they may not all start from Week 1 of Semester.

Once you've made all of your selections, scroll to the bottom of the page and select confirm class choices. If you have any clashes, a message will appear to advise you (please make sure that your browser allows pop ups). You will then need to work out what has caused the clash and make the necessary changes, or if you can't select an alternative class, consider other units or options or get some advice.

If your selections are clash free they will be listed and confirmed on the page: View Your Confirmed Classes.

Once you're done, go to MyUnits to see all of your activities displayed on your personal calendar. Click forward a week to take you to Week 1 and review the activities you've enrolled in to ensure that you have no unintentional clashes. After you've saved them, it will take 15 minutes or so for your activities to appear in your calendar.

Things to check

  • Make sure you have made all the necessary selections for your units - the system won't warn you if you don't select particular classes;
  • some classes may be filled for you - if this is the case then there will be no options to select as they will be mandatory;
  • if your unit attempt status is INVALID, you won't be able to select classes for that unit. You should contact The Student Centre via MyAnswers if this happens;
  • although it's not a requirement, it's a good idea to sign up to your lectures online in MyInfo. The benefit will be that when you select all your classes you will be able to make sure you avoid all possible clashes.

Next steps

You're pretty much done with the formalities now, but there are just a few more things you should have a look at.
