Deadlines and dates

All units have important dates associated with them:

  • Start date - date the unit begins.
  • Census date - last date to withdraw from the unit without it appearing on your academic record and without it incurring tuition fees.
  • Withdrawal date - first date to withdraw from the unit with a "Withdrawn/WD" result on academic record; you will have incurred tuition fees.
  • Fail date - first date to withdraw from the unit with a Fail grade (N) recorded; you will have incurred tuition fees.
  • End date - date the unit finishes.

The Handbook lists all University teaching periods and census dates for the current year.

Semester begins

The first day of Semester 1 2013 is Monday 18th February; you will have been advised otherwise if this does not apply to your course.

Internal unit enrolment deadline

You should be enrolled in all of your internal units before the start of semester to make sure that you are fully prepared and don't miss out on any information, though you can enrol in most internal units until the end of the second week of semester.

External unit enrolment deadline

So we can make sure you get your unit materials before the start of Week 1, you will need to have enrolled in your external units prior to 13th July 2012. You can enrol in external units up to the end of Week 1, but the later you enrol the longer it will take until you receive your unit materials. In most cases though the unit materials can be accessed online via MyUnits.

Once semester begins you can also change from internal to external by completing the form, change from internal to external mode in a unit, which you can find on the useful forms page.

Now you're set to go on to signing up for your classes.
