Professor Tahlim Sudaryanto

Prof. Tahlim Sudaryanto, Ph.D is Senior Agricultural Economist at the Indonesian Center for Agriculture Socio Economic and Policy Studies (ICASEPS) under the Ministry of Agriculture, the Republic of Indonesia. He holds a doctorate degree in economics from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, North Carolina, USA.

Prof. Sudaryanto recently completed his term as Assistant Minister for International Cooperation in the Ministry of Agriculture. Prior to his current position, he has held the following positions in the Ministry: Director, Indonesian Center for Agriculture Socio Economic and Policy Studies; Director, Bureau of Planning and Finance; Executive Secretary, Directorate General of Food Crop Production; Director for Agro Socio-Economic Research and Development; Executive Secretary, Agency for Agricultural Research and Development.

During his career, he has also served as lecturer, advisory committee on thesis and dissertation research in both undergraduate and graduate program of several universities. As official of the Ministry of Agriculture, he has also participated as delegation on WTO negotiation, various committees and council meetings at the OECD, G20, FAO, UN-ESCAP, ASEAN forum, and other bilateral meetings. As senior scientist with broad managerial experiences he has been in charged as chairman or member of various committees or working groups dealing with strategic policy issues, development programs or research projects.

Since January 2014 he has served as a member Board of Trustees, International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Philippines. In 2013-2014 he also served as a member of International Advisory Committee, Food & Business Global Challenges Program, Netherland Organization for Scientific Research (NWO), Netherland. During 2006-2010 he was as a member of the Technical Committee, United Nation-Center for the Alleviation of Poverty through Sustainable Agriculture (UN-CAPSA), Bogor, Indonesia.

He has written more than 100 articles published as book chapters, referred journals, conference proceedings, and mass media. His major research interest is on rural economy, food policy, and market & trade. During 36 years term as civil servant, he has received two awards from the President of the Republic of Indonesia and one award from the Minister of Agriculture, the Republic of France
