“My best memories of Murdoch are the lecturers who also acted as mentors. I was encouraged by them to pursue my interest in doing a masters and working overseas.”

After graduating from Murdoch in 1997 Rohan received a Chevening scholarship from the British Council to complete a Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) at Oxford University.

Upon graduation from Oxford, Rohan spent over five years with the firm, working in London, Tokyo and on a variety of projects all over the world. Rohan has returned to Perth with his family and is currently working as a senior associate with Clayton Utz in the area of banking and finance.

Life at Murdoch

“Murdoch University was smaller than the other universities which allowed students to have much more contact with their lecturers. This was especially so in the law school with lecturers being always happy to answer questions or discuss issues.”

“Murdoch provided a great opportunity for people interested in Asian languages as it has a number of programs with universities overseas and I spent a year studying in Japan as part of my combined degree.”

“The Murdoch law school also has a strong law society which organises a lot of social events and competitions which are sponsored by a variety of law firms”.

Why Murdoch

Rohan choose to study at Murdoch because it was smaller than the other universities in Perth which allowed him to have much more contact with his lecturers.

“The fact that many of the lectures had international backgrounds meant they were able to talk to us about working as a lawyer on the international stage and not just in Australia.”

“As an international student I believe Murdoch can provide a top quality law degree as many of us who graduated from Murdoch have gone on to work in international firms as well as study at top tier universities around the world."

“The law school, whilst being a vibrant community with lots of activities, still provides a friendly and welcoming atmosphere”.
