Jessica Seebauer - USA

Sports and Family Chiropractor

Bachelor of Science (Chiropractic) + Bachelor of Chiropractic Graduate

“I will always remember the drive, passion, and commitment of the academic staff members, inspiring us to serve the community and the profession with enthusiasm and integrity.”

Jessica completed Murdoch’s dual degree in Chiropractic Science in 2006. She has since joined an established practice in the Fremantle area.

She has since gone on to finish her International Chiropractic Sports Science Diploma and has gained special certification in the Webster Technique - a way of adjusting expecting mothers to optimize the function of the pelvis during pregnancy and birth.

Jessica also serves as the Secretary for the Chiropractors Association of Australia’s Western Australian branch and has recently had an article she wrote published by the Chiropractic and Osteopathic College of Australasia (COCA) Journal.

Choosing where to study

Jessica Seebauer grew up on the East Coast of the United States and admits Perth is about as far away from home as she could possibly get.

Jessica chose to study in Perth as she had been to WA before and knew that she would be able to enjoy an easygoing lifestyle and be close to the beach, the city and the great outdoors.

Jessica says, “When I first decided I was going to study Chiropractic in Australia, the program was only available in Melbourne or Sydney. Having lived in Tropical North Queensland while studying abroad in 2000, I wasn’t thrilled with the idea of living in a busy city while studying.”

“When the program began at Murdoch, I knew that’s where I wanted to be. I had been out to WA before, and liked the easy-going lifestyle that was close to the beach, the city, and the great outdoors”.

Life at Murdoch

“I will always remember the drive, passion, and commitment of the founding academic staff members, particularly Professor Stefan Pallister and Dr. Brian Nook.”

“I’ll never forget the first time we met Brian, how he stood at the top of the stairs in the flexible teaching space, jumping up and down, punching the air, inspiring us to serve the community and the profession with enthusiasm and integrity. I remember thinking, “If I could be half the chiropractor Brian Nook is, I know I could make a difference”.

During her degree, Jessica created a Chiropractic Mentor Program so that students of all years could not only meet and assist each other, but also have contact with chiropractors working in the Perth area.

The program has been modified, but it is still in use, and serves to link the chiropractic community with its future constituents.

Why Murdoch

“I would certainly recommend Murdoch. It is the perfect size – small enough to be cosy and personable, but big enough to support diverse clubs and interest groups.”

“Murdoch is perfectly located - 10 minutes from the beach and 10 minutes from the city”.
