Scholarship opportunities for International Students

At Murdoch University we understand that you may need some help along your journey towards achieving your university qualification. Whether you need assistance with getting into university, or support while you're studying here, we have a number of different options available depending upon your personal circumstances.

Murdoch University Academic Excellence Awards 2015

1. Undergraduate scholarships for international students

Overview

The International Undergraduate Award is awarded to the international applicants with the highest average scores from particular qualifications (listed below) in each of Murdoch University’s degrees; Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Science/Doctor of Veterinary Medicine combined degree.

There are 56 scholarships awarded each semester. Each scholarship is worth $5,000, payable to the recipients in two equal instalments, after the census dates of the first two consecutive semesters of the recipients study at Murdoch University.

Onshore Pathways

A portion of these scholarships are allocated to international applicants who have received an Australian Qualifications Framework Level 4 (Certificate IV) and/or Level 5 (Diploma) and/or an Approved Academic English Program in an English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS) from one of the following Murdoch University Streamlined Visa Processing (SVP) Partners:

  • Canning College
  • Education and Training International (ETI); (e.g. Challenger Institute of Technology, Central Institute of Technology, Polytechnic West, West Coast Institute of Technology)
  • Murdoch College
  • Murdoch Institute of Technology (MIT)
  • Perth International College of English (PICE)
  • Phoenix Academy

Offshore Pathways

A portion of these scholarships are allocated to specified offshore partner institutions.  One scholarship is awarded per degree for each of the following institutions and qualifications:

  • Approved Diploma (minimum of three years) from the following Polytechnics in Singapore (the average will be calculated based on all of the units studied in the final year of the Diploma):
    • Nanyang Polytechnic
    • Ngee Ann Polytechnic
    • Republic Polytechnic
    • Singapore Polytechnic
    • Temasek Polytechnic
  • Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) (the average will be calculated based on the best three academic (not including languages) subjects)
  • Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) National (the average will be calculated based on the best three academic (not including languages) subjects)
  • GCE A-Levels (the average will be calculated based on the best three academic (not including languages) subjects)
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma (the average will be calculated based on the best four Higher Level academic (not including languages) subjects)

Eligibility

The International Undergraduate Award is only open to international applicants (not Australian citizens, Australian Permanent Residency Visa holders or New Zealand citizens). Applicants must have applied to Murdoch University for admission and have successfully completed one of the qualifications listed above within the last three years (36 calendar months from the date of the start of the Semester that the student is applying for). Applicants must have also met both the English and Academic entry requirements for the Murdoch University course for which the student has applied.

Application deadline

Applications to study an Undergraduate degree must be received by Murdoch University International Admissions on or before the following deadlines:

For the Semester 1 intake:

  • Round 1 – 30 November 2014
  • Round 2 – 31 January 2015

For the Semester 2 intake:

  • Round 1 – 30 April 2015
  • Round 2 – 30 June 2015

Honours

Overview

The Murdoch University Undergraduate Honours Award is awarded to the top three graduating students in each of Murdoch University’s degrees; Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Science/Doctor of Veterinary Medicine combined degree.

There are a total of 48 scholarships awarded per year. Each scholarship is worth $1,000, payable to the recipients in two equal instalments, after the census dates of the first two consecutive semesters of the recipients study in an Honours course at Murdoch University.

Eligibility

The Murdoch University Undergraduate Honours Award is open to both international and domestic  Murdoch University Undergraduate students. Applicants must be due to graduate after successfully completing their final semester of undergraduate study.

2. Postgraduate scholarships for international students

Overview

The International Postgraduate Coursework Award will be awarded to the international applicant with the highest average percentage in their final year of study of an undergraduate degree, who is also enrolled in a Masters by coursework degree for each of Murdoch University’s Schools; Sir Walter Murdoch School of Public Policy and International Affairs, School of Arts, School of Education, School of Engineering and Information Technology, School of Health Professions, School of Law, School of Management and Governance, School of Psychology and Exercise Science, and School of Veterinary and Life Sciences.

There are nine scholarships available each semester. Each scholarship is worth $5,000, payable to the recipients in two equal instalments, after the census dates of the first two consecutive semesters of the recipients study at Murdoch University.

Eligibility

The International Postgraduate Coursework Award is only open to international applicants (not Australian citizens, Australian Permanent Residency visa holders or New Zealand citizens). Applicants must have received the equivalent of an Australian Bachelor Degree and have applied to study a Masters by coursework degree offered by Murdoch University. Applicants must have also met both the English and Academic entry requirements for the Murdoch University Master by Coursework course for which the student has applied.

Application Deadline

The application to study a Masters by Coursework degree must have been received by the Murdoch University International Admissions team on or before the following deadlines:

For the Semester 1 intake:

  • Round 1 – 30 November 2014
  • Round 2 – 31 January 2015

For the Semester 2 intake:

  • Round 1 – 30 April 2015
  • Round 2 – 30 June 2015
