It's ok to change your mind
|
"When I decided to change my course, I found it was a lot easier than I first expected." Alex, second year student |
When Murdoch student Alex thought about changing her course, she was happy to learn it was quite easy to do.
In 2008, Alex started a Bachelor of Media after gaining entry through her Media Portfolio submission. After just one semester, she was drawn to some of the new units she'd discovered and found a new course that she felt passionate about. Alex transferred to a Bachelor of Mass Communication with a Double Major in Journalism and Public Relations.
"I honestly believe that choosing to attend Murdoch University was one of the greatest decisions I have ever made," said Alex. "The support from staff and the flexibility to change your degree to suit your interests has really helped me."
At Murdoch, we believe that it's ok to change your mind. If you need help making a course change, we have a dedicated First Year Experience Coordinator to help you choose different units or transfer to a different course to get you back on track.
Since changing her course, Alex has also decided to add a Minor in Politics.
Apart from English, we don't have any formal subject prerequisites at Murdoch. This is because we don’t think your uni options should be limited if, like Alex, you decide to change direction once you're here.
Use the first year to explore your passions
In your first year of uni, it's a good idea to mix a range of subjects . This way, you can explore areas you're interested in to help you find an area you feel passionate about.
We provide more flexible course options than other unis in WA, so you can create a course that really suits you, and open doors to a range of careers you may not have even considered yet.
As Alex found out, discoverers really are welcome here! Find out which of our course options you can combine to explore your passion!
