Entry Awards and Financial Scholarships

Murdoch University has a range of entry awards and financial scholarships.

Entry Awards

Entry Awards are open to all school leavers and take into consideration special merit through academic achievement in school or unique personal circumstances.

We understand that you might have taken a different journey through school or had circumstances impact your performance that were out of your control. Entry Awards enable us to better understand you as a future university student and to see the range of skills and knowledge you might demonstrate to be successful in your chosen degree and major.

The Awards are assessed on an individual basis and take into consideration a range of academic and personal factors when determining eligibility.

All Undergraduate Degrees and Majors are eligible for consideration for admission through the Entry Awards except into Vet Entry or the Veterinary Science course directly.

Eligibility:

To be eligible you must be completing your Year 12 or equivalent and able to demonstrate your academic preparedness and aptitude for university study.

You will also need to meet the university’s English competency requirements, for most school leavers this means a scaled score of 50% or greater in English, Literature or English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD) at Stage 2 or 3. Alternatively, you may be invited to sit the Special Tertiary Admission Test (STAT) to demonstrate English competency prior to admission.

You will also need to apply through TISC (www.tisc.edu.au) and have the course you’re seeking an Entry Award for as your first preference.

Documentation:

To be considered you must submit the following as a minimum:

  1. Completed nomination form (attached)
  2.  Personal statement from the applicant (no more than 500 words)
  3. Letter(s) of support from the School or other relevant professional representative who can provide support and detail on the academic performance and ability of the nominee.
  4. Your Year 12 results achieved to date.
  5. Depending upon your situation you may also choose to submit other documentation to help the committee better understand your preparedness and aptitude for university study. This may include:
    • Transferable Skills worksheet (attached)
    • Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications
    • A resume
    • Letters of support from medical or counselling practitioners
    • Certificates of academic achievement or other relevant awards

Timelines:

Applications open in August 2013 for students starting in Semester 1, 2014. For applications to be presented formally at the school where possible or for notification prior to WACE exams, completed applications must be submitted by 18 October 2013. Formal presentation of Awards will be arranged in discussion with the School.

Applications received after 18 October will be assessed prior to the next relevant offer round through TISC or on a case-by-case basis after completion of the TISC second round.

If you have any questions about our entry awards, please talk to your high school careers counsellor or contact the Student Centre Team.
