Non School leaver entry requirements

There are a variety of admission pathways available for non school leavers (those over the age of 19). These range from going to TAFE and completing a Certificate IV, to undertaking the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT).

Standard Admission Requirements

There are a range of admission pathways for non school leavers, however most applicants will use one of the following as their basis for admission:

  • Secondary school results - either an Australian high school qualification, international equivalent or International Bacculaureate diploma.
  • Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) –  from 2010 onwards a minimum score of 140 in Written English and 135 in Multiple Choice sections, while tests taken from 1996 to 2009 require a minimum score of 145 in both Written English and Multiple Choice sections.
  • Vocational Training such as TAFE or Polytechnic colleges – applicants are eligible to apply for admission with a Certificate IV or higher, completed within the last 10 years.
  • Prior University study – applicants who have partially or fully completed prior university study within the last 10 years are eligible to apply for admission based on these results.

If you are applying to Murdoch using prior study that was completed in another country or in a language other than English, you must also meet English competency through one of the following:

Norway Vitnemal VG or better in English
