Applying through the Tertiary Institutions Service Centre (TISC)
TISC is the Tertiary Institutions Service Centre and its role is to run the application process for entry to undergraduate courses at the four WA public universities for admission into Semester 1.
To apply you can complete an online TISC application where you rank your university course preferences from first to sixth. It is important that you rank the courses based on your genuine preference – in other words, put the course you really want to do first, rather than the course you think you are most likely to qualify for based on your TER score.
There are two reasons for this:
- It is almost impossible to predict cut-off scores from year to year, and hence choosing preferences on the basis of mathematical prediction is unwise.
- The biggest goal in all of this is for you is to be happy and this means studying what you enjoy
Tips for selecting preferences
- The first preference should always be the course you most want to study (within reasonable aspirations)
- Your second preference should be your next course choice.
- Use the fifth and sixth preferences as a safety net – they should be courses with an eligibility rank lower than all other preferences.
- Safety net preferences should also provide a pathway into your preferred course.
Find out how to gain entry for the specific Murdoch course you are interested in, check out last year’s cut-off score and see the recommended subjects which will provide you with a useful background in your chosen study area.
We cannot emphasise enough how important it is that you understand the TISC application process. You can contact us if you have any concerns about the process or visit the TISC website for further information.
