2013 Distinguished Alumni Awards - Guidelines


The Distinguished Alumni Awards have been established to recognise outstanding professional achievements and/or community services by Murdoch University alumni. The awards acknowledge the valuable contributions our alumni are making for the benefit of our society.

AWARDS CATEGORIES

Distinguished Alumni – Science:

  • Health Professions
  • Psychology and Exercise Science
  • Veterinary and Life Sciences
  • Engineering and Information Technology


Distinguished Alumni – Arts and Social Sciences:

  • Arts
  • Education
  • Law
  • Management and Governance


ELIGIBILITY

A graduate (alumnus) of the Murdoch University is a person who has been awarded by the University a degree, diploma or any other award prescribed by the statutes of the University.

Candidates who are self nominating or are being nominated must have graduated from Murdoch University.
Current students who ARE already alumni of Murdoch University are eligible.
Current staff and spouses of staff (more than 0.2 FTE) are ineligible to enter the awards.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Nominees must have:
(i) given outstanding service to the community and/or Murdoch University; and/or
(ii) have made an outstanding contribution to their chosen field.

All nominations will also be assessed against the core values of Murdoch University:

  • Equity and Social Justice
  • Sustainability
  • Global Responsibility
  • Innovation and Entrepreneurship


NOMINATIONS FOR ALL AWARDS

Nominations may be made by any member of the wider community who believes a Murdoch graduate is deserving of this award, in accordance with the selection criteria above. Nominations must be made on the official nomination form, with any supporting materials attached.

AWARD PRESENTATIONS

Winners will be announced on Wednesday 24 July 2013.

Murdoch University Alumni Relations reserves the right to determine the eligibility of all nominations and to decide which award category a nominee should fall under. All nominations are judged by two levels of independent judges and the decision of the Judges is final. Any attempt by nominees, nominators or another individual to influence the Judging or outcome of the Awards will result in the immediate disqualification of the nominee in question at the absolute discretion of Alumni Relations.
