Become a film-maker learning from industry professionals with Screen Production

With YouTube, Netflix, online video advertising, and national broadcasters increasing their offering of online video content, there has never been more opportunities for film-makers than now. It is the age of communicating visually, and to do so effectively means learning and mastering visual language just as you needed to learn how to read and write words.

Murdoch’s Screen Production degree is a mix of practice and theory, so you don’t just graduate knowing how to shoot with a camera or record with a microphone, but are armed with visual creativity, critical and reflexive thought, and a consciousness of why - as well as how. This is the perfect position from which to forge a successful career in Screen Production!

Follow your own pathway as a future film-maker

Murdoch’s Screen Production curriculum provides you with the flexibility to explore various formats and genres of film-making, such as documentary, dramatic film, experimental film, webisodes, music videos, and more.

You'll be given industry standard training by our highly qualified lecturers across all aspects of the film, TV and digital screen production process, and can choose to experience a variety of Screen Production roles, such as Producer, Director, Editor, Cinematographer, Sound, and Production Designer.

Lights, camera, action - time to get to work

You'll get to learn hands-on skills in our fully equipped Media Arts Centre, our TV production studios, video editing suites, or taking our broadcast video cameras, film lights, and sound equipment out on location. If you’re more post-production-minded, you can choose to explore special effects and graphic animation.

With all this practical training you will build a diverse portfolio by the time you graduate, which will be invaluable in showcasing your skills.
