Make a difference in children's lives with Primary Education
In this course, you will learn how to encourage young children to learn and become the best they can be. You will be supported in becoming a highly skilled educator with a strong grounding in effective learning and teaching practices linked to the Australian Curriculum.
Enjoy learning about education
Primary education begins the process of learning that will continue through life. This course will equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to teach in primary schools from Years 1 to 6.
You'll learn about the theory, practice and management of teaching, including the place and role of education, the characteristics of learners and the teaching-learning process. You'll also learn about the curriculum taught in schools today to prepare you for the profession of teaching.
Specialise in an area of interest
If you're passionate about a particular area of teaching, you can combine your degree with a minor area of study. For instance, you may wish to develop a teaching minor such as Australian Indigenous Studies, Creative Writing or Theatre and Drama.
Gain practical skills through school placements
Professional Experience is a key component of this degree, giving you the opportunity to engage with children, schools and the broader community and to apply your learnt expertise in a range of school settings. As an intending primary teacher you will be placed in classrooms across the primary age range for your professional experiences.
Graduates are recognised by the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA) as well as the respective State, Catholic and Independent school departments, organisations and associations.
