Master of Veterinary Studies in Conservation Medicine

Become a wildlife conservation specialist


Building on your Veterinary Science qualification our renown academic staff will train you to become a leader in environmental conservation. You will learn about advanced biodiversity conservation and explore issues associated with the interrelationships between human, animal and ecosystem health.

You will also have the chance to undertake a field placement, either in Australia or overseas, furthering your knowledge and experience in an area you're passionate about. You'll learn how to treat sick and injured wild fauna, including wildlife cases and be able to choose from a range of topics relevant for veterinarians working with wildlife and zoo animals.

The course structure builds on the Postgraduate Certificate, allowing you to focus your studies, providing a range of specified electives so you can specialise in a variety of areas such as geographical information systems, infectious and emerging diseases and environmental monitoring.

Work on the wild side


This degree will provide you with training and expertise which can be applied in private practice, zoos and wildlife conservation projects. You will also gain professional recognition from the Australian Veterinary Association and as the course is available fully externally, it offers you the flexibility to add further study to your other commitments.
