Master of Counselling

Qualify as a professional counsellor and establish your counselling practice through our Master of Counselling course.

Delve further into the counselling relationship

We will help you gain a deep understanding of the counselling relationship through practical hands-on experience and through critical appraising of existing counselling literature. In your second year of training you will choose to either undertake a substantial research project addressing an issue in counselling theory or practice or complete your degree with additional coursework. This will involve advanced counselling skills including engaging challenging clients, working with people affected by trauma and grief and developing your creativity as a counselling professional round out your training.

You are encouraged to work with an independent Counsellor as part of your personal and professional development. This will help prepare you for the role of Counsellor in several ways particularly in providing an invaluable insight into the client's perspective of counselling.

Develop your practical experience at our on-campus Counsellor Training Centre

Your practical experience will also include experiential training at our Counsellor Training Centre, Caladenia Counselling, working closely with your supervisors to provide real clients with the best possible care. Two practicums at counselling agencies combined with on-campus supervision groups provide a supportive and challenging learning environment. The course has full accreditation through the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).
