Help preserve the health of our marine ecosystems with a Marine Science degree

Australia is an island continent so our marine environment is part of our national identity as well as being crucial to our economy.

As a Marine Scientist, you will gain the kind of knowledge necessary to make a real difference to the management and conservation of that environment, as well as developing a full appreciation for its current state and the predicted impact of climate change.

Pursue a range of exciting career options across marine-based industries

Gain the knowledge you need to prepare you for a variety of roles across industries including marine environmental management, fisheries, offshore oil and gas, tourism and recreation, marine biotechnology, biodiversity conservation and marine ecology.

Also, by including units in biology and environmental science, you will develop an even broader appreciation of our marine environment's interaction and impact on other key ecosystems.

Join our strong and experienced team on this highly-practical course

Build a solid understanding of the complex physical and biological interactions within the marine environment from a teaching staff rich in research-based knowledge, practical experience and enthusiasm whilst benefiting from their direct links with Australia-wide research institutes and industry experts.

You will also have plenty of opportunity to get hands-on experience in our laboratory-based classes, as well learning how to develop field-based research through our 1-week field trip on the Marine and Estuarine biology units.
