Journalism student work at Murdoch University

Student work

It takes different kinds of thinking to create.  We’re proud to have staff and students who think differently to create inspirational pieces of work – from press and radio stories, to completely produced online television news.

Our students all work in our newsroom and studios to produce daily stories to go on air and online. Our news producer will work you hard, but you will be rewarded by having published stories to show your first editor.

South Street Radio 2011

During Semester 1, second year students in the Radio Presenting and Producing unit (MCC244) spend 8 weeks broadcasting live-to-air from the well equipped radio studios at the Murdoch Campus. Each weekday afternoon from 3pm to 5pm, teams of three to four students take to the airwaves to present 2-hours of music, features, segments, reviews, promos, news, weather and traffic reports, as well as scripted and ad lib presentations.

The programs are transmitted via community broadcaster Fremantle Radio (107.9) through a long-standing cooperative arrangement with Murdoch University. The innovative and varied program is called South Street and has been part of Fremantle Radio's broadcast calendar now for several years.

Copenhagen 2009

Our journalism students attended the UN climate change conference in Copenhagen during December 2009.

Journalism students produced and published stories, images, blogs and vlogs from the Danish capital, and became the eyes and ears for Western Australian readers via the PerthNow website.
