Engineering
"How can I see a problem if I'm not standing in front of it?"Isambard Brunel is arguably the greatest engineering discoverer' in history he invented the Trans-Atlantic steam ship and the suspension bridge. Clearly he believes in a hands-on approach to engineering. And so do we.
We have some of the most amazing hands-on engineering facilities in the world. We've recently launched our newly refurbished labs and with its processing units, centralised computer system and modern control room, our nationally renowned, purpose built Bayer Pilot Plant is like an engineering utopia.
Enjoy a range of career opportunities
As a career, engineering offers so many different avenues of discovery. From bioprocess to renewable energy, Murdoch has a wide range of specialisations. We understand that it may take a little bit of time to work out what stream suits you best. That's why our first year offers you a variety of engineering units to open your mind and help you make a more reasoned choice of career.A number of specialisations are available, including:
+ Electrical Power Engineering
Explore power system stability, safety and protection issues. You'll get the technical and practical skills you need to work as a professional engineer in manufacturing, mining, electronics, or power distribution and maintenance areas.
+ Environmental Engineering
Develop your passion for helping the environment as you gain the technical and problem-solving skills you need to work as an engineer. You'll be qualified to work with planning and architectural consulting firms, land developers, pollution control companies and more.
+ Engineering and Commerce
In this course, you'll learn the skills you need to work in industry and engineering, with valuable business and commercial skills to add to your skill set. It's a great way to maximise your learning and boost your career prospects.
+ Engineering and Science
Would you like to combine learning maths, computing and engineering with new scientific skills? This five-year double degree will give you a specialist qualification in your choice of Engineering field, combined with any of our Science degrees.
+ Engineering Technology
In this course, you can combine engineering and applied science with computing and information technology. You'll learn a broad range of skills to help you meet the demand for maintenance and support activities across several industries.
+ Industrial Computer Systems Engineering
Learn how to combine computing and software development with the skills to design, commission and test complex industrial control systems. You'll be qualified for professional roles in a range of industries including defense, navigation systems, consumer electronics and even car manufacturing.
+ Instrumentation and Control Engineering
Industrial and manufacturing processes help to produce everything from food to chemicals, resources and energy. Explore how these processes are controlled by automated and computer-based control systems and learn the skills you need to work in a range of industries.
+ Renewable Energy Engineering
Explore how energy can be generated from sustainable sources. You'll learn how to design, commission and test a range of renewable energy systems including solar thermal, photovoltaic, wind based and biomass systems.
